Our Story

So, it really all started back in 2022.

My husband, kids, and I moved to Zadar, Croatia, and life really just slooowed down. I became familiar again with dreaming just to dream, playing in nature, and my imagination was just going wild.

Well, coming off of the high that it was to read the ACOTAR series for the first time, I was hiking through Croatia’s absolutely stunning (and honestly, “stunning” doesn’t even do it justice) Paklenica National Park. And the idea came over me like… hey, I think I can write a book?

That day, I began to dream up a story about witches, hidden family lineage, the power of women telling their stories, time portals, and ooohhh just so much other goodness in Finley’s story, to come! I’ve written the first draft of that story, but I’ve really been letting it brew. Though it isn’t published yet, I feel more aligned than ever with giving this story the voice it deserves, and I’m so happy that I haven’t rushed it.

But, anywho!

I did go on to publish my debut novel, The Ghosts of Ophelia’s Past, a modern twist on A Christmas Carol, and three books in a motocross romance series. Throughout that whole process (boy was I flying by the seat of my pants that year, lol!), I learned the ins and outs of being an indie author.

I’ve had the greatest experiences chatting with bookstore owners, being silly with how I navigate marketing on social media, doors opening in the Supercross industry, connections made with readers, and so much more.

So, while I know a whole lot about part of the writing and publishing industry, I also know a whole lot of nothing on other ends of it. 😜

But! As a Pisces sun & Sagittarius rising, not fully knowing every little detail has never stopped me before.

What I do know is this:

I know that women need more spaces in the world where they—and only they—are celebrated.
I know that my female ancestors would have loved the opportunity to use their voices freely and uplift and invest in women in this way.
I know that indie authors need more love and more opportunities to have their stories read. Happy to be another place that can cheer them on.
I know that money earned from this bookshop, thanks to all the incredible women in our community, will then allow me to give back to other women in our community who need support. As a teen mom myself, I know that women need reliable transportation, clothes and toys for their children, and home-cooked meals. I have a big vision for how this bookshop will play a role in that.
And I know that women at all stages of life will always need a space to gather and tell their stories.

And that’s really what The Lost Story Bookshop is to me...

A space centered entirely on women’s voices, where stories written by women are fully celebrated. A place where women can come as they are, be seen, be heard, and hopefully pick out their next favorite read. <3
